2018-19 Activities

In July and August heavy torrential rains hit Kerala so drastically destroying God’s own Country of all her charm and beauty claiming precious lives,and  leaving many thousands homeless.  Mary Mount did offer a loving and helping hand to the needy poor in this crisis.  We have donated more than 5 lakhs rupees for rehabilitation process as a part of SEWA programme.

With the principal Rev. Lissy Sebastian, class XII E called at Veliyanadu panchayath on 27th July 2018 and distributed necessary accessories to the flood affected people.

XII C led by their class Teacher did the same on 28th July joining hands with Malayala Manorama mission “Karunya Sparsham on 30 July. 

 XII B and the class teacher led by our Principal Rev. Sr. Lissy Sebastian went in a passenger boat of State Water Transport Department to the flood affected area island in Vatta Kayal where 40 families got stranded .  The students distributed all the provisions clothes  and blankets to the poor. 

XII D students along with the Principal and their class teacher visited the flood affected areas of Kuttanad , helping them in their need.  Class XII A and the teachers visited , a psycho social rehabilitation venture for the abandoned people.

Class X A and the teachers visited Sampreethy, the missionary congregation of the blessed sacrament and spent time with the inmates and offered gifts and other accessories

X B also visited Nava Jeevan trust and spent half a day with the inmates  and lent a helping hand to  the caretakers in carrying out the daily chores. 

XC and XD also did the needful for the inmates of Lourd Bhavan at Pallickathodu 

2017-18 Activities

*We channelize our students energy into a world of charity, compassion, love, respect and constructive ideas through Nallapadam project by Malayala Manorama and proved fruitful as we bagged the first prize in Kottayam District and ‘A’ grade in State Level.

*Mary Mount Public School and Green Kerala Mission Kottayam jointly observed the World Environment Day on 5th June 2017 by distributing 3000 saplings among our students as part of the State government’s programme of planting one crore plants.

*We honoured Mr. P. T. Cyriac, an award winning agriculturist, specialized in organic farming, with a ponnada on 31st August 2017.

*To make the public aware of the evil effects of the increasing consumption of liquor and drugs, anti drugs campaign was held in the form of Ottanthullal in school, Bus stand and Kanakari temple premises.

*A mass cleaning campaign of the M.C. Road premises during the Onam Holidays and informed the KSEB of those transformers which were not properly fenced posing a threat to the local people.

*On Gandhi Jayanthi day our students cleaned the waiting sheds from Ettumanoor to Kattachira as a precaution to control the spread of communicable diseases.

*An awareness class was organized by Nallapadam on Saturday 14th October as part of Prevention of children from sexual offences (POCSO). A thought provoking class on cyber safety measures and the legal aspects connected with POCSO was taken by Mr. M.B. Latheef, SI, District Crime Records Bureau, Mr. Arun and Mr. Manoj, Senior Civil Police Officers.

*Our students visited old age homes at Pala & Athirampuzha and distributed clothes, provided lunch and other food items to the inmates.

*The inmates of Navajeevan Trust were given 300 Kilogram cakes during Christmas by the students of our school.

*100 bed sheets were distributed to the cancer and Kidney patients at Medical College Hospital, Kottayam.

*Students contributed their hair to help the cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

*Rs 25000 was donated to Pennamma a cancer patient.

Dream Home House warming

on 16 October 2016 the key handover ceremony of the 4th house to Master Alex an autism affected child, was held in the presence of Honnourble Shri. Mons Joseph , Kaduthuruthy MLA and Sr. M S Sunil an eminent Social worker.

Anti Drugs Day

The school observed Anti Drugs Day on 23rd June. Poster designing competition was held for classes 8,9 and 10 based on the topic ‘Drugs Kill’.Our children received wide appreciation for the street play and for flash mob.

Nallapadam Padhathi goes on in full swing

Getting motivation and encouragement from the success of Nallapadam last year, our children started a new mission 'Sneha Sparsham' with full empathy and love towards the needy poor. We are always in service with and for the needy.

KARUNYA: PROJECT TO HELP THE POOR

The Social Service Club and Nallapadam conducted a fund raising programe “Karunya” in the month of November and December in our school. The aim of the programme was to develop helping mentality in children and raise fund for the construction of two houses as part of our Dream Home Project. A sum of Rs 1,15,000 was collected from the students contributing minimum one rupee each day. This amount was handed over to the principal Rev. Sr. Lissy Sebastian. Class IX D contributed the most and was given a special gift by the Principal.

Dream come true

Snehasparsam our dream home project become fruitful by the purchase of land and construction of two houses for the needy. The foundation stone was laid by Rev. Dr. Varghese Kaippanadukka OIC, blessed by Rev. Fr.Mathew Kadukuzhy and inaugurated by Shri. Thiruvanchoor Radakrishanan Hon Minister in the presence of Shri.Mons Joseph MLA Kaduthuruthy, Shri. Suresh Kurup MLA Ettumanoor, Shri. James Plakkithottiyil Chairman Ettumanoor Municipality, Our beloved Manager Rev.Mother Molly Kachiramattam and Principal Rev.Sr.Lissy Sebastian.

Work is worship

To uphold the value of Labour and cleanliness, the school conducted a ‘Cleaning Campaign’ at Family Welfare Centre, Vallikadu on 2 October 2015. Mr. George Pullat, President, Ettumanoor Panchayat inaugurated the campaign. Principal Rev. Sr. Lissy Sebastian and Manager Rev. Mother Molly Kachiramattam graced the occasion. The members of school Nature Club, Social Service Club and Nallapadam put in their joint effort to make the campaign a success.

Dream Home Project for the Needy

Mary Mount has always been a ray of hope for the needy. to inculcate the value of empathy in students, the school purchased land to construct a house for Mrs. Valsala S, a supporting staff of the school. The foundation stone for the same was laid on Friday 24th July 2015.

Anti Drugs Day

Anti Drugs Day was observed in our school on Friday 26 June 2015. By drawing a poster Rev. Sr. Lissy Sebastian, our Principal inaugurated the function, which was presided over by our school Manager Rev. Mother. Molly Augustine. Our parent Mr. Shibu Peter, State Co-ordinator Kidney Foundation of India,delivered the key note address. A pledge “not to touch drugs” was taken.Street play, Theme Song, Magic Show and poster designing to create awareness among the public was held at Ettumanoor Bus Stand, Kidangoor Bus way.

World Environment Day Celebration

To create a positive and caring attitude towards nature, World Environment Day was celebrated on 5 June 2015. Principal Rev. Sr. Lissy Sebastian planted a sapling in the inaugural ceremony.

A visit to Children’s Home

Students of Class X and a team of teachers visited Children's Home, Thiruvanchoor on Saturday 9 May, 2015, as part of Life-Skill development programme. Snacks and Sweets were distributed and a friendly Cricket Match was also played. . Through this visit our students got an opportunity to realize the hardships and misfortunes of their peer group and to have an introspection to develop empathy.

Mother’s Day Celebration

International Mother's Day was celebrated with pomp and pleasure on Friday 8 May 2015 amidst an august audience. Our Beloved Mothers inaugurated the function in the presence of Rev. Mother Molly Augustine, Manager, Rev. Sr. Lissy Sebastian, Principal, special invitees and students. Various Competitions added spice to the programme. The interactions of the day enabled the students to understand and appreciate their deepest love towards them. Mathews Joshi & Roshny Soni paid handsome tributes to all mothers.

Distribution of Study Materials

“Charity begins at home.” School being our second home alms giving as a virtue is encouraged and implemented through the Social Service Club by distributing study materials to the needy. This noble venture was officially inaugurated by the honourable Jilla Panchayat Member Sri. Josemon Mundackal on 23rd May.

Anti-Drugs Day

Say ‘No’ to Drugs. They silently kill you. Students of 10 C presented a special assembly on June 26, highlighting the dreadful effects of alcohol and drugs. A poster designing competition was also held to give vent to the creative spirit of the students and to provide them with opportunities to develop creative talents and hobbies. Our children prove that the abundant energy present in children cannot be channeled negatively when they are productively engaged in creative activities.

Re-construction of a house

Due to heavy rain the house of Mr.Biju a resident of Jawahar colony, Vettimukal was destroyed completely- Under the guidance of our Principal the nallapadam team visited the house and provided the requirements for the reconstruction.

A helping hand

As part of Nallapadam project we chose Ettumanoor village Office as our Christmas friend with the initiative of our principal. We cleaned the surrounding of the village office and planted 5 redpalms. Apart from that we donated 2 sets of airport chairs, an executive chair for village officer, a ceiling fan and table glass sheet. Kottayam Thahasildar Shri.Monsi Alexander was also present on the occasion.

Smrithi Sahaya Nidhi

Smrithi, a plus two student who was suffering from serious lungs disease had lost the amount collected for her treatment when her house caught fire. Nallapadam team along with the help of students collected Rs.10000 and handed over to Smrithi.

Distribution of Rice & Xmas cakes

Seven sacks of rice was collected from our students and was distributed along with cakes, which was donated by the students and presented to different poor families in the nearby colonies. We also donated two sacks of rice and cakes to Shishu Bhavan Ettumanoor.
